Why Mindfulness?
Studies have proven that Mindfulness is a powerful, foundational skill for supporting families to manage the stress in our increasingly complex world. When parents integrate mindfulness into their homes, the conditions for greater well-being, resilience, kindness, and effective learning are cultivated, shifting the outcomes for an entire generation of young people.

Mindfulness teaches skills for coping in all kinds of triggering situations.

Study proven ways for increasing concentration span.

People who practice mindfulness training are more likely to help someone in need and have greater self-compassion

Mindfulness trains the brain to focus on tasks even when emotions are activated.

When we are mindful, we experience the world directly through our five senses. In doing so, we learn how our minds work, and we are better able to label the thoughts and feelings we are having, staying centered in the present moment.

Mindfulness has been proven to increase telomerase, (the ‘caps’ at the end of our genes), which in turn, can reduce cell damage and lengthen lives. Mindfulness also boosts the immune system, making us better able to fight off diseases.
Positive Effects of Mindfulness in the Brain

1. The amygdala is activated when detecting and reacting to emotions including difficult or strong emotions such as fear. Following sessions of mindfulness training, this part of the brain may be less activated, allowing our fight or flight response to be soothed and we can make more rational and calm decisions
2. The hippocampus is critical to learning and memory and helps regulate the amygdala. The hippocampus is more activated following mindfulness training.
3. The prefrontal cortex is most associated with maturity, including regulating emotions and behaviors and making wise decisions. This part of the brain is more activated and developed following mindfulness training.
